Grand choir "Voices of Roads" won a prize at the Baltic competition

The Grand Choir of the Central House of Culture of Railway Workers (CDCJ) called “Voices of Roads” won the first prize at the sixth International Competition “Baltic World”, which was held in Kaliningrad from 5 to 8 November 2023. The competition was attended by more than 400 vocalists from Russia, including Moscow, Moscow region, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, Perm and Tomsk.

Competition performances were held in the best halls of Kaliningrad: St. Adalbert’s Kirkhe, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, the Orthodox Gymnasium of the Kaliningrad Diocese, the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Virgin, the House of Culture of Railwaymen, the House of Officers of the Baltic Fleet and the Kaliningrad Regional Philharmonic named after E.F. Svetlanov.

The jury noted the high professionalism of the choir, led by Irina Kartasheva, choirmaster Anna Gostintseva and vocal teacher Vladislava Solovyova. The choir became a laureate of I degree.

“Voices of Roads” was founded in 1936 by the People’s Artist of the USSR Alexandrov and since then is an important cultural institution, revived in 2023 on the initiative of the CDCJ and the Moscow Railway. The team, consisting of enthusiastic employees of various departments of Russian Railways, performs works of Russian and foreign classics, spiritual and folk songs.
