Adele makes her film debut: Anne Rice's opera novel will be her first project

Pop diva Adele is preparing for her film debut, which is scheduled for January. She will star in a new film based on Anne Rice’s 1982 novel Lamentations to Heaven. The film, directed by the famed Thomas Ford (Lonely Man, Under the Cover of Night), will be dedicated to the world of opera in eighteenth-century Italy, which probably implies Adele's vocal involvement. The ensemble also features such famous actors as Nicholas Holt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Kieran Hinds, Tandiwe Newton, Mark Strong, Paul Bettany and Owen Cooper, a 15-year-old Emmy winner who previously starred in the miniseries Transition. Adele has long shown interest in acting, starting a collaboration with the director of the video on her hit "Hello", Quebec director Xavier Dolan.
