An outstanding composer Grigory Korchmar has passed away

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of composer Grigory Korchmar, who died on November 17, 2025 at the 78th year of his life. The Union of Composers of St. Petersburg expresses sincere condolences. Information on the date and place of farewell will be announced.

Grigory Korchmar, born on December 12, 1947 in Baltiysk, passed the way from a graduate of the Leningrad Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov (specialties "composition" and "piano") to a recognized master. His work covered a wide range of genres: he worked in the orchestra of ancient and modern music, in the chamber ensemble "Soloists of St. Petersburg", and since 2009 he taught at the department of special composition and improvisation of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory. During his prolific career, he created more than 150 works, including operas, symphonies and choral cycles.
