Russian ideas about the mother: the results of a large-scale survey

Media holding Rambler & Co together with Soyuzmultfilm conducted a survey to find out which images of mothers are most popular in Russian society and how Russians represent modern motherhood. The survey, which ran from 20 to 25 November 2025, covered 34,586 users.

The results showed that the most beloved mothers from the cartoons: White Ursa (34%), Uncle Fedor’s mother (23%), monkey mother (21%) and the mother from “Mite” (15%). At the same time, Lullaby Bears (31%), Weary Toys Sleep (26%) and Baiu-Bayu (20%) were the most popular lullabies.

When choosing the perfect "mother's assistant," the majority (61%) singled out Matroskin's Cat, followed by Uncle Fedor (22%).

The Russians also identified the most favorite cartoon families: Prostokvashino (32%), Raksha and Akela (24%) and Zayts and Zaychikh (21%).

The survey also revealed the main difficulties that, according to Russians, are associated with motherhood: maintaining self-control in adolescence (30%), finding resources for yourself (24%), “24/7” mode (17%) and difficulties with giving up control (14%).

According to respondents, cartoons should foster emotional intelligence (44%) and critical thinking (37%). When choosing the quality of a modern mother, respondents noted patience and emotional intelligence (22%) and the ability to be “in the moment” (18%).
