Thomas Newman will be the sound palette of the new “Star Wars”

Famous composer Thomas Newman will take on the task of creating the soundtrack to the new part of the epic Star Wars saga. This was announced by Starfighter director Sean Levy. Newman is the winner of fifteen Oscar nominations, his music is heard in such films as “American Beauty”, “The Shawshank Escape” and “1917”. Levy has long dreamed of working with Newman, who he says "sent the script and a description of his vision."

Levy’s goal is to create a soundtrack that respects the legacy of John Williams, but doesn’t turn into a mere reimagining of old tunes. Filming of Starfighter, part of the tenth part of the saga, began in September 2024. The film takes place five years after the events of Skywalker. Sunrise. Levy stressed that the new film is not a prequel and not a sequel, but a new, large-scale adventure. In the lead role is Ryan Gosling. The film is scheduled to premiere on May 28, 2027.
