“Hudi” became the first in Russia “Diamond disc” due to streaming and new criteria

Russia’s first “Diamond Disc” was presented to the track “Hoody” performed by Dzhigan, Artik & Asti and Niletto, timed to the cooperation of the music distributor Pulse and the Rocket Records label. The award was awarded by achieving the equivalent of 1,000,000 sales, taking into account both physical sales and streams, in accordance with updated certification rules developed by the National Federation of the Music Industry (NFMI).

The new criteria for recording success, as explained by Pulse COO Maxim Voroshilov, reflect modern market realities: streaming services provide data on the popularity of tracks, and official certification is now based on aggregated data from all platforms. Earlier, when the number of labels was smaller, the criteria were more clear. However, with the growing number of market participants, there was a problem of ambiguity in the rules, so NFMI developed a unified evaluation system.

"Hoody" achieved success thanks to a combination of genre breadth, strong melody and a memorable hook. The complexity of the project – the collaboration of three artists and three labels – also added value to the achievement of this award.
