Acquaintance with Mosfilm: GITIS students expand their horizons

Students of the GITIS Department of Sound Engineering visited the recording studio of Mosfilm Film Concern as part of the Third International Symposium. The tour was conducted by Gennady Papin, the leading sound engineer of Mosfilm and a graduate of the first set of sound engineers of GITIS in 1985.

Impressed by the scale of Russia’s largest operating studio, the students inspected state-of-the-art equipment, including the best microphones, acoustic systems and a huge mixing console. Particular attention was drawn to the work of the great composer Eduard Artemyev, where they were presented with a unique opportunity to hear a previously unpublished recording of his Requiem, which was recorded for a long time by Gennady Papin himself.

This trip not only broadened the students’ understanding of the possibilities of the profession, but also allowed them to gain valuable professional knowledge from an experienced sound engineer, strengthening their motivation for further development in the field of recording.
