Rosalia’s Lux – Album of the Year 2025: Analysis and Ratings

Rosalia’s November album, LUX, became the most popular release of 2025, thanks in large part to the so-called “recency bias.” The website albumoftheyear.org, which collects annual lists of the best albums from leading publications and blogs, confirmed this trend. LUX made it to 67 ratings, finishing in 10 first, 11 second and 5 third places, scoring 371 points and overtaking artists such as Geese ("Getting Killed"), Wednesday ("Bleeds"), Bad Bunny ("DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS") and FKA twigs ("EUSEXUA"). In Soundtracks’ final wiretapping, where the top 10 AOTYs crossed in just one spot, LUX ranked 19th and EUSEXUA ranked 12th. Previously, according to albumoftheyear.org, the leaders of the ratings were Charli XCX (2024), the record boygenius (2023) and Beyoncé's RENAISSANCE (2022). This year has shown that a key factor in album success for music critics has been the post-pandemic trend towards stylish and catchy titles.
