Placebo create music for Brecht's new production

British band Placebo wrote the original soundtrack to a new production of Bertolt Brecht's Career of Arturo Ui (also known as Paradise Lost), in collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company. It became the first soundtrack in the career of the band, preparing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of its debut album. Musicians note that this satirical allegory about 1930s Chicago, which is a warning about the coming to power of fascist forces, today sounds especially relevant and prophetic. The role of Arturo Ui will be played by the famous creator of the television series “Sherlock” Mark Gaitis, winner of two Laurence Olivier awards. The new production will premiere on April 11 at the Swan Theatre, located in Stratford-upon-Avon, where Shakespeare spent his life.
