“Doll” “Ivanushek”: the history of creation, secrets and behind the scenes

In the new issue of “Hit Story” on “Muz-TV” on January 31, 2026, viewers will learn the secret story of the creation of the cult song “Doll” of the group “Ivanushki International”. Experts of the program will reveal why the shooting of the famous video was a real test for the legendary band, and what the artists actually sing in this song, which for decades has become a symbol of Russian pop music.

It all started with the debut album, for which the poet Alexander Shaganov wrote the lyrics to “Dolls”, and producer Igor Matvienko planned to attract a more adult audience, ready to attend concerts and provide the group with a stable income. The original text of “Dolls” was not quite suitable, and it was decided to write new poems – the song “The Ring” appeared. Shaganov explains: “The first record should be without these researches of my psychological plan, and more about love.”

After gaining popularity and a huge number of fans, Ivanushki faced the problem of a shortage of songs for concert programs. Matvienko again remembered the postponed “Doll”. Shaganov recalls: "A year later I have already forgotten about this "Doll". He [Igor Matviyenko] calls me, says: "Here, they wrote music to those poems of your old."

In the chorus of the song, the names of the dolls were invented right during the recording, reflecting the personal stories of the soloists. Andrey Grigoriev-Apollonov, for example, explains: “They wrote, invented to rhyme and not to offend an ex-girlfriend or future wife.”

Interesting fact: in the video for the first time there was a new soloist – Oleg Yakovlev. While Igor Sorin, one of the founders of the group, was not included in the frame, as the director wanted to emphasize his departure.

The program will also highlight unusual moments of filming: overnight stays on the set, dangerous situations and the fate of the “doll” from the clip. The air is scheduled for 15:30.
