Moscow court finds Queen photo 'LGBT propaganda'

The Moscow City Court ruled that a resident of Moscow, David Gevondian, was guilty of disseminating information recognized as “LGBT propaganda.” The reason was the posting on the social network of a photo of the group Queen from the video “I Want to Break Free”, which depicts men in women’s clothing. The court found that the image contained signs of propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations, and that the photo “poses a threat to the demographic growth and economic development of Russia.” Gevondian tried to challenge the charges, claiming that it was just a photograph, but his arguments were rejected by the court, which considered that the publication has no musical context. The ruling raised fears of further litigation over other works, such as "Hello, I'm Your Aunt," "Tootsy," "Mary Poppins, Goodbye!" and "Only Girls In Jazz."
