Thom York and Harry Styles are the main sensations of the Ivor Novello Awards

London hosted the 71st Ivor Novello Awards, which celebrate the best British and international songwriters. Among the winners are CMAT (best album), Kay Tempest (best contemporary song), Jacob Alon (best song, music and lyrics, rising star), Lily Allen (outstanding song collection), Sam Fender (songwriter of the year) and Rosalia (international songwriter of the year). A special event was the recognition of the tandem of Tom York (Radiohead) and Harry Styles, which made the audience applaud.

Among the honorary members of the Ivor Novello Academy, in addition to the late George Michael (his representative, Andrew Ridgeley), is Thom York, becoming one of two new winners of the highest award – Academy Fellowship (previously awarded to this honor Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Kate Bush and U2).

Harry Styles delivered a touching speech, sharing memories of losing his virginity to the song "Talk Show Host" (and possibly in her intro), the influence of "Exit Music (For a Film)" on "Watermelon Sugar" and his love for Radiohead. Embracing York, Stiles gave his own speech, expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of the music industry and addressing its representatives, emphasizing their importance. York, in turn, delivered a tougher speech, expressing his frustration with the modern music industry.
