Fake Angine de Poitrine: A History from Moscow

Canadian mat-rock duo Angine de Poitrine discovered in Russia created a fake version of the band. An Instagram post from Moscow’s Enthusiast bar features musicians copying AdP’s style – including contrasting black and white costumes and a similar background. Ten simple differences distinguish fake: from the use of single-string guitars instead of the branded double-griffs of the group, to general cosplay. However, it was only a one-off joke, timed to coincide with the three-year anniversary of the bar, and foreign media actively spread the rumor about the “fake Angine de Poitrine”. The band’s art director, Sam Murdoch, is concerned about the growing number of fakes – 1,500 AdP scorched T-shirts have already been sold. He has managed to remove about 700 fakes from popular platforms, but the problem continues to be relevant.
