Vladimir Preobrazhensky’s “New Escapism”: An Expanded Version in 2026

On July 5, 2026, a new version of Vladimir Preobrazhensky’s cult song “Boston Tea Party” was released, called “New Escapism”. The original composition, released in 1997, was the first song in Russia about the Internet and quickly became a symbol of the new synthetic world - the world of virtual reality, neural networks and an attempt to escape from the problems of modern society. At the center of the song is the idea of finding refuge in love, disappearing into its boundless expanses, like on the Internet.

The song went through several musical projects of Vladimir Preobrazhensky ("The Flying Dutchman", "Alchemical cabaret" and "Boston Tea Party"), acquiring various interpretations. The new version (9+ minutes) is characterized by a special suggestiveness, meditative mood, an abundance of sound effects and the participation of Vladimir Preobrazhensky and Andrei Dyukov in the recording.
