Lil Nas X releases World’s Greatest! with a video dedicated to his mother

Lil Nas X has released World’s Greatest!, a new song with an official video. His website now marks the release as available. Sony Music issued its announcement on October 2; Apple Music dates the single October 1, 2026. It is his first musical return since March 2025.

Lil Nas X wrote the song himself, with production by C.WRAY and Steve Rusch. He dedicated the recording and video to his late mother, Tamikia Hill. Before the release he shared an encouraging voicemail from her, bringing a personal family memory into the announcement.

Phillip Youmans directed the video in the musician’s hometown of Atlanta. It places childhood memories alongside his present life, bringing the adult artist into conversation with his younger self.
