The Three Degrees of Freedom: Reviving the Legacy of Alexander Kneifel

In June 2025, it is planned to release the album and the book “Three degrees of freedom”. Music of cinema of the USSR" to the anniversary of the death of composer Alexander Kneifel. This was announced by the author of the project “Three degrees of freedom” – the leader of the group “Megapolis” Oleg Nesterov. Nine years ago, he began work on a project dedicated to Soviet film music, calling it the Three Degrees of Freedom. Music > Cinema > USSR. Kneifel, whose music is performed all over the world, wrote the music for for forty films, and his innovation, including "filmphones", has influenced many musicians. Original soundtracks, previously unreleased, have been found in film studios and archives. Nesterov was able to work with Kneifel during his lifetime, which allowed him to recreate the record and digital release, including restoration and remastering. The album, with a circulation of 300 copies, was printed in Germany. Along with the book, scheduled for release in June, there will also be multimedia concerts with the spatial sound “Alexander Kneifel”. The loudspeaker orchestra at PERMM (June 21) and at the New Stage of Alexandrinka (July 12). In two years, Nesterov intends to release the fourth part of the project.
