Rhiannon Giddens brings nine Reflektor concerts to Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie

Rhiannon Giddens will curate five days of Reflektor at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie from November 25 to 29, 2026. The venue’s November 3 announcement details nine concerts. Part of its USA 250 series, the programme connects American folk music, African traditions, baroque repertoire and chamber ensembles.
Giddens opens with Francesco Turrisi on November 25 in When I Am Laid in Earth. The following day’s Juba Zinga Jubilee explores banjo history. On November 27, members of the Silkroad Ensemble present excerpts from the opera Omar and ballet Black Lucy and the Bard in new arrangements for piano quintet.
November 28 features Karen Ouzounian, Lara Downes and Giddens’ guest-filled The People Could Fly. The final day brings Leyla McCalla with Louis Michot, Seckou Keita’s kora and Silkroad’s Sanctuary. Keita’s album 22 Strings, mentioned in the description of his concert, is presented in the official player below.
