Rihanna, a pop icon whose promises of a new album have long disappointed fans, has unveiled the single "Friend of Mine" for the soundtrack to the new version of "The Smurfs," where she will play the role of Smurfette. However, if anyone was hoping for something like "Born Again" or "Lift Me Up," those hopes are dashed: the song consists almost exclusively of repeating phrases like "Feel like a friend of mine." This single is Rihanna's first music in 2.5 years (after the release of singles for "Wakanda Forever"), and in the soundtrack to "Smurfs" it will appear several more times. The release of Rihanna’s new album is likely delayed due to the expected birth of her third child and rapper A$AP Rocky.
