Billy Joel cancels tour due to progressive normotensive hydrocephalus

75-year-old legendary musician Billy Joel announced the cancellation of his entire upcoming tour, scheduled for 2025. The cause was a recent diagnosis - normotensive hydrocephalus (NTG), a condition characterized by the accumulation of fluid in the brain and, as a result, a violation of its functions. As Joel himself noted in his official statement, the active concerts exacerbated the symptoms, manifested in impaired hearing, vision and coordination.

Doctors advised him to undergo special physiotherapy and to refrain from performing until he recovered. Earlier, in February, the musician had already postponed performances due to the operation, the circumstances of which were not disclosed.

NTG can negatively affect cognitive function, memory, thinking and movement. Despite this, the condition is often reversible. Billy Joel has previously admitted that he has difficulty memorizing lyrics and counts on the support of the public. He thanked the fans for their support and hopes to return to the stage in the future. All tickets for the concerts will be returned to customers.
