Melody presented a previously unreleased Children's Suite for Boris Tchaikovsky's instrumental ensemble. This work comes to light in the year of the 100th anniversary of the composer, which makes it special. Tchaikovsky is known as the author of both large-scale and chamber works for adults, and numerous children's suites, characterized by melody and unusual rhythm.
In 1962, when the Children's Suite was recorded (it was attended by Nikolai Nazaruk, Vasily Ryskov, Abram Dukor, Israel Agranovsky, Ilya Schneider and Anatoly Kolesnikov), the composer already collaborated with radio, theater and cinema, his music sounded in popular works, including cartoons and films.
Interestingly, very little is known about the suite itself: it is unclear when and where it was written, and what material it consists of. Tchaikovsky’s researcher, Yuri Abdokov, suggests that it could have been created for an unfinished film or theatrical production. "Melody" opens this record to a wide audience, highlighting its value as a new discovery in the legacy of Boris Tchaikovsky.
