Black Sabbath return to the stage: a grand concert in Birmingham

Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham hosted Black Sabbath's historic farewell show yesterday, the first in eight years, the first performance of the original line-up in two decades and the last concert by Ozzy Osbourne, suffering from Parkinson's disease and unable to walk but still capable of hitting a 40,000-strong audience. Ozzy, sitting on a special throne, completed the nine-hour live marathon with two powerful setlists, including both solo hits (including "Mama, I'm Coming Home" and "Crazy Train") and performances with Black Sabbath ("War Pigs", "N.I.B.", "Iron Man", "Paranoid").

The Back to the Beginning concert brought together heavy metal and hard rock legends from Anthrax and Metallica to Gojira and Tool, as well as guests such as AC/DC, Elton John, Jack Black and Dolly Parton, who performed cover versions of Black Sabbath songs. The show featured members of supergroups including Guns N’ Roses, Alice in Chains, Slayer, and many others. During the Pantera set, actor Jason Momoa even stepped out from under the stage and staged a mosh pitch in the crowd. All proceeds from the concert went to charities - Cure Parkinson's and children's hospitals in Birmingham. The concert was available live and on-demand, bringing together a huge number of stars.
