It's Never Over: A Documentary about the Tragic Life of Jeff Buckley

The documentary It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley, directed by Amy Berg (Janis: Little Girl Sad), follows the life and short but incredibly influential career of musician Jeff Buckley. The film focuses on the tragic death of Buckley at the age of 30, which occurred in 1997, when he drowned in the Wolfe River in Memphis.

The film explores the life of a star with a truly otherworldly voice, which in the 90s turned the musical world. The debut album "Grace" received critical acclaim, although it did not immediately achieve great success in the charts (originally ranked 149th on the Billboard 200). Today, "Grace" is considered a cult album. Although Buckley never completed his second album, his mother, Mary Gibert, collected his demos, which were later released in 1998 on Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk (64th on the Billboard 200), winning a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance with the single "Everybody Here Wants You".

The documentary features previously unpublished footage from Buckley's archive, as well as interviews with his mother, former partners, bandmates such as Michael Tye and Parker Kindred, as well as Aimee Mann and Ben Harper. The film reveals a look at the life and creative legacy of Jeff Buckley, who, despite his short life, left an indelible mark on the history of music. The film premiered at the Sundance Festival, and will begin film distribution in August, with a TV and online premiere scheduled for HBO and HBO Max at the end of the year.
