Gergiev's concert in Italy cancelled due to protests

Valery Gergiev’s speech, scheduled for July 27, 2025 in Italy, has been cancelled. On July 21, the Royal Palace in Caserta announced the cancellation of the symphony concert, which was supposed to be part of the Un’Estate da Re festival in the Vanvitelli courtyard. The reason for the cancellation was a sharp public outcry against the participation of the conductor, known for his close relationship with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. According to Ansa news agency, heated debates and concerns about possible protests by Ukrainian organizations led to this decision.
