Nine Inch Nails return with 'Peel It Back Tour' with Joseph Freeze

The Nine Inch Nails' North American "Peel It Back" tour kicked off in Oakland yesterday, marking a reunion with Joseph Freeze, the former Foo Fighters drummer who previously played with them. This was made possible after the departure of Ilan Rubin, the NIN drummer who was recently fired by the Foo Fighters. Like Tom Brayhan, author of The Number Ones, I plan to attend one of the tour's concerts and avoid spoilers by carefully studying, for example, yesterday's setlist. Particularly impressive was the live performance of "The Perfect Drug", which showcased the skill of Freeze, who had been in the band for the past 17 years. As with all of the tour's gigs, Auckland featured deep cuts and techno remixes backed by the warm-up band Boys Noize. The culmination was the performance of the new song “As Alive as You Need Me to Be” – the lead single for the soundtrack to the upcoming “Tron”, on which Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are working, which is a historic event for Nine Inch Nails – the first in their history performance with new material. The audience was able to capture that moment.
