In the London district of Hackney, the authorities have closed the license to the music store Recycle Vinyl, which organizes “quiet discos” on the territory of the former kindergarten Kingsland Nursery. The reason was the incorrect application, as neighbors complained about “loud parties with DJs”, which had nothing to do with the silent disco format, which assumes that everyone dances to their headphones. Initially, according to Robert Smith, owner of the store, it was planned to hold events in the daytime for 10 weeks. The police noted that the application for the event did not specify the involvement of DJs, which raised concerns among neighbors about the illegal music event. Although the plan was to use the space to draw attention to the issue of closing electronic music venues, the license was revoked.
