Andrey Petrov. Not only cinema: New exhibition at the Russian National Museum of Music

On September 5, 2025, the Russian National Museum of Music will open the Andrey Petrov exhibition. Not only cinema, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the famous composer. The exposition, prepared jointly with the Foundation for the Preservation and Development of the Creative Heritage of Andrei Petrov, the Union of Composers of Russia and the State Central Cinema Museum, will present the life and work of Peter.

Visitors will be able to see the recreated office of the composer, which includes his writing device, a table lamp and the manuscript of the opera “Mayakovsky Begins”, as well as awards. The collection also includes manuscripts of early works, music editions, sketches by artists Valery Dorrer and Enar Stenberg, posters, photographs and important documents. For the completeness of the picture, audio and video recordings of performances and films in which Petrov’s music sounded will be available, such as “Amphibious Man”, “I Walk Through Moscow”, “Promised Heaven” and “Forgotten Flute Melody”.

As noted by the General Director of the Museum of Music Mikhail Bryzgalov, the initiative to present the personality of Andrei Petrov arose after a successful exhibition with a musical manuscript for the film "Cruel Romance", developed jointly with the daughter of the composer, Olga Andreevna Petrova.
