Barry Adamson unveils 'SCALA!!!!' soundtrack to the history of London's legendary cinema

Musician and composer Barry Adamson will release his first solo album SCALA!!! on January 16, which became the soundtrack to the 2023 documentary about the history of the famous London cinema Scala. Opened in 1920, Scala has gone through many transformations, from a classic cinema to an iconic concert venue. The album, including a limited series of vinyl records in a rich "forbidden blood-red" color, contains 22 tracks, one of which is already available for streaming.

Prior to that, Adamson, after his work with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, created albums that were often referred to as "film soundtracks", but he also wrote music for real-life films such as "The Highway to Nowhere" and "The Beach". SCALA!!! is Adamson’s first solo compositional project.

Scala's history is rich in events: photo shoots for Iggy & the Stooges and Lou Reed albums took place here, in the 80s Scala hosted marathons of horror films, and in 1999 the cinema reopened as a concert hall, where Foo Fighters, Gorillaz, Chemical Brothers and Coldplay performed.
