The Death of Legendary Limp Bizkit Bassist Sam Rivers

Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers passed away on October 18, 2025 at the age of 48. His death was announced by his bandmates on social media.

Sam Rivers was much more than just a bassist for Limp Bizkit. As his companions put it, he was the “pulse of every song,” “calm in chaos,” and “soul in sound.” He brought light, rhythm and an unforgettable presence to the band.

Sam Rivers started playing music at an early age, first playing the tuba, then mastering classical guitar and finally becoming a bass player. At the age of 15, he met Fred Durst, and together they formed the Malachi Sage and then, in 1994, formed the iconic Limp Bizkit.

The musician was known for his achievements: in 2000 he received the prestigious Gibson award for best bassist, and also opened his own studio in Jacksonville and produced several successful albums.

Unfortunately, health issues related to excessive drinking forced Sam to temporarily leave the band in 2015. Thanks to a successful liver transplant in 2017, he was able to return to full-time concert activities at Limp Bizkit. His music and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of his fans.
