The Revival of Genius: A Concert in Honor of M.M. Ippolitova-Ivanova

On November 11, 2025, the long-awaited concert-presentation of the project “Revival of the creative heritage of M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov” will be held at BZK. For the first time after a long break, the works of this outstanding composer, conductor and teacher, the founder of Ippolitovka will be performed.

The concert program includes Symphony No. 1, choral, vocal, chamber-instrumental compositions and symphonic music written by Ippolitov-Ivanov for the first domestic sound cinema. Special attention will be paid to Symphony No. 1, which was edited by Yuri Ivanovich Simonov himself, artistic director and chief conductor of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic, head of the Department of Opera and Symphony Conducting "Ippolitovka". The performance will be performed by the Moscow Youth Symphony Orchestra named after M.M. Ippolitova-Ivanov.

M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov was not only a composer, but also a major public figure, the first rector of the Moscow Conservatory, the founder of educational institutions and the pioneer of the modern musical system. His work, which includes all the main genres of academic music, is unexplored. The opera studio and the Ippolitovka Symphony Orchestra have already staged the opera “Asya” based on the novel by I.S. Turgenev, as well as a joint production of the opera M. Mussorgsky – M. Ippolitov-Ivanov “Marriage”. The publication of the composer’s three-volume romances, which attracted the attention of L.A. Gergieva, became an important stage in the study of his work.

The concert will be full of the participation of famous soloists and choirs, including Denis Begansky, Nikolai Erokhin, Ekaterina Latysheva, the Consolidated Choir of the GMPI, "Moscow Patterns", as well as a special guest - Tatiana Kurtukova, winner of the awards "Muz-TV" and "Victoria".

The project is designed to revive and popularize the creative heritage of M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov, rich, but still little studied. The unique property, numbering more than 10,000 materials, reflects the achievements of the era and is an important cultural heritage of Russia.
