World Soundtrack Awards 2025 star moments: Bertelman, Bloomberg and other winners

At the 25th World Soundtrack Awards (WSA), held on October 15, 2025 in Ghent, Belgium, on the closing day of the film festival, the best in their genres were recognized. Volker Bertelman received the award “best film composer of the year” for the soundtracks for the films “Conclave” and “Novichok”. Awards were also given to Daniel Bloomberg for “discovery of the year” for his work on “Brutalist” (already awarded “Oscar”), Theodor Shapiro for “best television composer of the year” for the music for “Separation”, and the best original track was “El Mal” from “Emilia Perez”, written by Clément Ducolle, Camilla and Jacques Odiard and performed by Zoe Saldana and Carla Sophia Gascon (eared at both WSA and Oscars). As part of the ceremony, honorary awards were presented to composers Philip Glass and Michael Nyman.
