Former Hole and Smashing Pumpkins member Melissa Auf der Maure is set to release her first book, Even the Good Girls Will Cry: A’90s Rock Memoir, on March 17, 2026. It is a memoir described as "partly an autobiography of growing up, part a travel diary, part a psychedelic album," and rich in rare behind-the-scenes photographs from her musical career, which began with Canadian alternative rock band Tinker.

The book will be a testament to the critical decade of 1991-2001, during which Auf der Maur was part of the musical hurricane of the 90s. The memoir chronicles her bohemian childhood in Montreal, where she found her way into music, working as a DJ and ticket seller, and had the opportunity to see and communicate with such legends as Nirvana, Jane's Addiction and Pavement. Thanks to a random fan letter and a recommendation from Billy Corgan, she was given the chance to join Hole on the Live Through This world tour following the tragic death of Kurt Cobain.
