Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff has passed away.

Jimmy Cliff, an iconic reggae music figure awarded the Jamaica Order of Merit and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has died at the age of 81 from pneumonia. His wife, Latifa Chambers, reported it. Cliff, the father of singer and actress Nabia Be, left behind an extensive track record, including more than three dozen albums, a variety of hits and fruitful collaborations with such stars as The Rolling Stones, Joe Strummer and Sting. He has also won two Grammy Awards, including Best Reggae Album. Cliff also became famous as an actor, thanks to his role in the famous crime drama “Thorny Way”, the soundtrack to which brought world success to reggae music. Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness said that Cliff's music "has allowed people to go through difficult times, inspired generations and helped Jamaica gain global respect."
