Premiere of Tchaikovsky’s “Maid of Orleans”: the grandiose project of MAMT

Moscow Academic Musical Theatre named after K.S. Stanislavsky and V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko presents the premiere of the monumental opera by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky “The Orlean Maiden” on November 28-30, 2025. This is the largest work of the composer, combining dramatic action with oratory elements. In the center of the story is the tragic and heroic image of John, embodying the strength of spirit, self-sacrifice, loyalty to duty and at the same time the lyrical beginning, courage and thirst for life, in the context of a cruel historical event.

Director Alexander Titel and conductor Christian Knapp strive for an organic combination of “presentation theater” and “experience theater”, filling pathos with specific dramatic content and taking into account modern perception. In the play there is a grand stage with a huge staircase and controlled panels, as well as costumes that recreate the spirit of the XV century.

Leading parties will be performed by Larisa Andreeva, Ekaterina Lukash and Anna Zagorodnaya. The performance also involves leading artists and young talents. Particular attention is paid to the choir, which plays a key role in revealing the emotional palette of the work. Additional screenings are scheduled for premieres on January 28 and 29, 2026, promising viewers a large-scale and spectacular performance.
