World premiere of "Requiem of the Unforgotten": Dedication to the heroes of the Fatherland

On December 9, 2025, the world premiere of Valery Voronov’s opera “Requiem of the Unforgotten”, created by order of Yuri Bashmet, will take place at the KPC as a tribute to the heroes of the Fatherland. This work, written on poems by Konstantin Simonov, Boris Pasternak, Rasul Gamzatov and Yuri Levitansky, is a musical reflection on memory, human dignity and sacrifice.

The premiere will be attended by famous actors (Sergey Garmash, Irina Kupchenko, Yevgeny Tkachuk, Alexei Vertkov), soloists (Nikolai Zemlyansky, Danila Knyazev), as well as the State Academic Choir Chapel of Russia. Ah. Yurlova and All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra under Yuri Bashmet. The concert is directed by Polina Agureeva.

Yuri Bashmet, the mastermind of the project, stressed the importance of preserving the memory of the nameless heroes, whose sacrifices and exploits remain forever in the hearts of people. The Requiem of the Unforgotten is not a religious requiem, but a profound reflection on the price paid for peace, the value of every human life, and the power of memory to overcome oblivion.

Valery Voronov, the author of the music, also noted the importance of the theme: “Using the poems of people who have gone through the war, allowed me to immerse myself in their memory, in what is impossible to forget. The Requiem of the Unforgotten is my dedication to people whose fates were forever changed by the Great Patriotic War. The Requiem of the Unforgotten focuses on memory as the basis of human existence and hope for the future.
