Pulp: Covers, Anniversary and New Horizons

Sheffield band Pulp, who returned from the album "More", which became the album of the year according to "The Wire" after 24 years of silence, continues to amaze fans. They recently released a cover of Johnny Cash's "The Man Comes Around" and are planning a charity compilation of "HELP(2)" with the new track "Begging for Change". Last night Pulp made a special performance at Maida Vale Studios, where, as part of the BBC Orchestra project, they performed a cover of ABBA’s famous song “The Day Before You Came”, a 44-year-old lead single, which looks especially unexpected due to the band’s approaching half-century anniversary. Their concerts with the orchestra at Radio 2 Piano Room open up a new season that also includes performances by stars such as Macy Gray, Tori Amos, Squeeze, James and Jessie J, as well as live premieres of covers of songs by Frank Sinatra and Taylor Swift. Pulp also performed two other songs during their performance.
