Television: Stars, Music and Farewell to the Age

Night TV is not only famous guests and political discussions, but also bright musical performances. As part of the Sound section, we continue to get acquainted with the great Russian band Tequilajazz, and this time with new musical performances.

The main event of the month (and perhaps the whole year) was the farewell to The Late Show Stephen Colbert, who after 11 years (33 years, if you count the era of David Letterman) left the air. The show's final guest was Sir Paul McCartney, with whom Colbert discussed everything from a legendary performance at the Ed Sullivan Theater to a favourite sandwich, and then they sang "Hello Goodbye" together with Elvis Costello, John Baptiste and Colbert himself.

The reasons for the closure of Colbert’s show, voiced by low ratings, are perceived by many skeptically – as a rejection of satire against the US president, who does not accept criticism. Bruce Springsteen performed a long version of "Streets of Minneapolis". Colbert did not forget about his pleasure from the work, joining the troupe of David Byrne and participating in the performance of "Burning Down the House" Talking Heads.

Jimmy Kimmel invited Mike Patton from The Avett Brothers to the show, and Duran Duran and Niall Rogers hosted a live premiere of their single "Free to Love." His debut on American television made Slayyter, known for its tracks, visiting Jimmy Fallon.

And, concluding this series, we can’t help but mention the final point – the live premiere of the nostalgic lead single of McCartney’s new album, which concludes the 51st season of Saturday Night Live.
