A new look at the Russian tradition: the launch of the musical project “Source”

Music label “ON Label” with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives launched the project “Source”. A New Sound of Tradition, dedicated to the development of young musicians working with the traditions of the Russian regions. The project was launched on June 10, 2026, in the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia and involves the release of eight songs and clips in Russian, Tatar, Circassian, Komi-Permyak, Udmurt and Chuvash languages.

The project is based on a unique combination of folk culture and modern sound, not the reconstruction of traditions. Every week for two months (from June 10 to July 27) will be released one single. On August 22, Flag Day of Russia, all songs will be played in a playlist available on all streaming platforms.

The first collaboration of the label was the song “Spring” from Matanya and Oligarkh – a stylish track combining folk verses with modern arrangements in the style of breakbeat, uk-garage and bass music.
