Peter Gabriel releases new song 'I Belong to the Sky' with inspiration from Chico Hamilton and Bernaut Smilde's clouds

Peter Gabriel continues to delight fans, releasing new tracks at each new moon. His new song "I Belong to the Sky" will be part of his upcoming album "o/i", scheduled for release at the end of the year. The song was inspired by the drum parts borrowed from the old film "Jazz on a Summer Day", where Chico Hamilton played brilliantly - the famous rhythm sector. Gabriel noted that the sound of the tome that inspired him was "soothing and hypnotic," thanks to Hamilton's innovative use of percussion sticks.

For the cover of the single, Gabriel chose the photo “Nimbus de Toekomst 1, 2019” by Dutch artist Bernaut Smilde, the creator of artificial indoor clouds. The musician said: I like this image of the sky, where it has both the external and the internal. The song is about the same thing - about the harmony between the worlds and their transition into each other.
