Masters of Reality: A Detailed Look at Black Sabbath Coming October 2026

In October 2026, Rufus Publishing will release the first official Black Sabbath book, The Masters of Reality – Why Black Sabbath Matters. The author, photographer Ross Halfin, has conducted an in-depth study of the band's history, spanning Ozzy Osbourne's tenure from the late 1960s to his last concert, "Back to the Beginning."

The book promises to be a treasure trove for fans, featuring more than 500 pages of rare photographs, essays by Jeff Barton and Dave Ling, and exclusive interviews with all four original band members.

Originally, the idea for the book came after a concert in Birmingham, but the tragic death of Ozzy Osbourne delayed the project. Despite this, Osborne was actively involved in the work, signing the printed forms, and all members of the group contributed. The edition is scheduled to be released a year after the final concert, which Halfin believes is the perfect moment to celebrate Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, highlighting their relevance to musical history.

The book will be available in three editions: a standard hardcover, a leather-bound superdeluxe edition (limited and autographed) and a metal-bound superdeluxe edition (also in limited edition and autographed).
