Bono on U2's new album: 'It has to be extraordinary'

The U2 frontman, who previously promoted Bono: A Reconciliation Story, shared his thoughts on working on the band's first album since 2017 during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel. Bono stressed the importance of rethinking the past to create the sound of the future. Drummer Larry Mullen Jr., who returned from neck surgery, is actively involved in the recording. Bono insists that U2's new album should be truly outstanding, stressing that "nobody needs a new U2 album - unless it's extraordinary." In anticipation of this triumph, the band will release a documentary about Bono, directed by Australian director Andrew Doming, and an EP called Stories of Surrender, which includes songs from the film.
