Lityagin won a court case against Sukhankina because of the illegal use of Mirage music

Andrey Lityagin, producer and composer of the Mirage group, won the court victory over Margarita Sukhankina, the former soloist of the project. The case concerned a concert by Sukhankina on January 7, 2024 in Volgograd. According to Alexei Gorbashov, the leader of the group, for the past eight years Sukhankin illegally used Lityagin’s works, without paying royalties.

Lityagin claims that Sukhankina and her management used a “fraudulent scheme”, presenting their performances as a “theatrical show” to avoid paying royalties. However, according to the musician, this is not true, since they did not create any complex object. Sukhankina simply performs Mirage songs without permission.

This is the third such lawsuit in which Lityagin won. Initially, the court decided to pay 2.6 million rubles, but then reduced the amount to 1.3 million rubles, also awarding 100 thousand rubles of legal costs, which will be paid by the organizer of the IP Zaitsev O.S.

Gorbashov expressed disappointment that Sukhankina and her team were “disorderly and inconvenient” and tried not to pay the authors by deception, and also noted that this is the third win for Lityagin. A formal agreement was made and a license was issued for the use of music, but the license was not renewed after the expiration of the term.
