Polaris Music Prize Celebrates 20th Anniversary with New Best Song Award

The annual gala, marking the 20th anniversary of the prestigious Polaris Music Prize for Best Canadian Album, will announce the winners. The SOCAN Polaris Song Prize was established for the first time in the history of the award to award the best Canadian song. The jury, consisting of music experts, evaluates works solely on their artistic value, ignoring genre features, chart positions and commercial success. In July, the lists will be reduced to 10 albums and 5 songs, and on September 16 at the gala in Toronto will be named the winners in both categories. The longlist already features artists such as Caribou, Propagandhi, Backxwash, Kaytranada, Klô Pelgag, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, The Weather Station, Colin Stetson and Mustafa (with the song "Gaza Is Calling"), which has already caused a lot of discussion.
