Glam Rock legend Junkyard David Roach didn't live to be 60

Junkyard hard rock singer David Roach died on August 3, 2025 at the age of 59 after battling aggressive squamous cell carcinoma. His colleagues from the group reported the death on social media. In March, he was diagnosed and launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe to provide his round-the-clock care and medical follow-up. His fiancée, Jennifer, quit her job to become his regular assistant, and they got married shortly before she died.

David Roach, born in Austin, Texas, in 1966, co-founded Junkyard in 1987. The band quickly gained popularity in Los Angeles for their glam and hard rock sound, often compared to the early Guns’n Roses. The band included Roach (vocals), Chris Gates and Brian Baker (guitar), Clay Anthony (bass) and Patrick Muzingo (drums). Junkyard released two albums on Geffen Records, including the hits "Blooze", "Hollywood" and "Simple Man", and toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1991. Despite the band's dissolution in 1992, they released an unreleased two-part album, "XXX" and "The Joker", in 1998. Junkyard reunited in 2000 and continued to perform, releasing a live album, Shut Up – We’re Tryin’ To Practice!, in 2000, and a comeback album, High Water, in 2017. The band's last notable work was the single "Lifer", released in 2021.
