Court bans distribution of Leningrad songs due to 'incitement to violence'

The Vasileostrovsky District Court of St. Petersburg ruled to ban the distribution of five songs of the Leningrad group: “Candidate”, “No X...E”, “Ch.P.H.”, “Ospa” and “Russians”. The decision taken on October 8, 2024, became known only now.

According to court documents, this decision was complained to the prosecutor’s office by Senator Margarita Pavlova, who received a complaint from a citizen. During the monitoring, dozens of sites were found where songs and their lyrics were available.

The examination assessed the musical works as containing signs of “incitement to violent acts and actions that pose a threat to the health of minors.” The court agreed with the conclusion of the prosecutor’s office, considering that the songs contain “hidden techniques of persuasive influence on the consciousness and psyche of minors”.
