Godspeed You! Black Emperor has abandoned all streaming platforms.

The legendary Montreal band Godspeed You! Black Emperor, known for its seriousness and integrity, has joined the initiative of other artists such as King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and Deerhoof by removing its music from Spotify. However, having crossed this line, GY!BE completely left all streaming services, including Tidal and Deezer. Although early albums and EPs are still available on Apple Music, their label Kranky has confirmed that the band will retain their discography exclusively for Bandcamp. The reasons for such a radical move have not yet been reported, but this initiative stands out because Godspeed You! Black Emperor is boycotting not only Spotify, but all streaming platforms. The group, known for its silent and eccentric behavior, had previously rejected the Mercury Prize, the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy Awards, and donated the winnings to the cultural education of Quebec prisoners. The band will continue their world tour in support of their new album, "NOu2008TITLE AS OF 13 FEBRUARY 2024 28,340 DEAD", including concerts in the United States and, for the first time in eight years, in Asia, in the fall of 2024.
