Unexpected victories and bright performances at the MTV Video Music Awards 2025

Yesterday, the MTV Video Music Awards were held in New York, but the ceremony was remembered not only for bright performances, but also for some unpredictable results. Within an hour of the show’s conclusion, the winners in a number of categories were never announced, but were eventually declassified. A special sensation was the first place in “Video of the Year”, which went to the short film Ariana Grande “Brighter Days Ahead”. MTV viewers and the industry, in general, fairly distributed the awards: Lady Gaga and Sabrina Carpenter each received four awards, and Bruno Mars and Doechii each received two. The only one who managed to snatch the victory was Kendrick Lamar, winning one VMA thanks to his cameraman for the video "Not Like Us". Numerous performances, including tributes to Mariah Carey, Baste Rhymes and Ricky Martin, as well as the mysterious collaborations of Doja Cat and Kenny G, attracted the attention of the audience. Particularly memorable tribute to the legendary Ozzy Osbourne, who brought together Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from Aerosmith and promising Yungblud. Viewers noted the results, for example, the third victory of Coldplay in the category “Best Rock” (where Aerosmith still has a record), as well as the triumph of Sombr in the category “Best alternative” (compared to last year).
