Legendary bassist Anthony Jackson has died at the age of 73.

The music world mourns the passing of Anthony Jackson, a pioneering American bassist who passed away on October 19, 2025 at the age of 73. His death was confirmed by leading music publications, colleagues and Fadera, with which he worked for many years.

Jackson, born June 23, 1952 in New York City, is known for his contribution to the development of the electric bass. He was the creator of the six-string bass guitar and left an indelible mark on the history of music, creating countless recordings featuring a unique groove and timbre. His influence can be traced in many genres, conquering the hearts of listeners of different generations and continents.

He began his career as a session musician, working with legends such as Billy Paul and Philadelphia International Records, recording with Chuck Khan, Roberta Flack and Buddy Rich. In 1974, disillusioned with the five-string bass guitar, he developed a six-string model, starting a collaboration with Fadera, where many of its models were created.

Since 1976, Anthony has collaborated with Al Di Meola, participating in the recording of his famous albums, including a joint album with Leonid Agutin. Al Di Meola expressed deep grief over the passing of a friend, highlighting Anthony's innovation and genius. Leonid Agutin also noted the uniqueness of his sound and skill, admitting that it is impossible to imagine Di Meola’s albums without Anthony Jackson.
